Apple Pie

This is a humble all time recipe of Apple Pie made from scratch. The crunchy and flaky pie crust baked with melted apples gives apple pie its unique taste. Sometimes finished pie is served with cheese or topped with ice-cream .

  1. All purpose flour...2 & 1/2 cup
  2. Butter...100 gram , cubed
  3. Sugar dust...2 tbsp
  4. Sugar granules...1/2 tsp
  5. Salt...1/2 tsp
  6. Apple ... 3 , peeled and very thinly sliced
  7. Lemon juice... half a lemon
  8. Cardamom...3 pods or powder
  1. For the filing , in a bowl add sliced apples , sugar, lemon juice , cardamom ,a pinch of salt and leave for 5 minutes.
  2. In a blender put all purpose flour , salt , sugar granules , butter cubes and blend into a flaky ( not too smooth ) dough by adding 1/4 cup water ,1 tbsp water at a time.
  3. Divide the dough into 2 equal portions and refrigerate for an hour or so.
  4. Roll the dough in thick circular shapes or pie crust ( like roti ) in size slightly bigger than pie dish so that it covers the apples and has little bit of an overhang , for crimping the edges.
  5. Place the bottom crust in the baking dish , add sliced apples filing ,cover with top crust and crimp the edges.
  6. Bake till crisp and lightly brown and serve for breakfast or dinner .
