Kakroler Pur Bhaja

Teasel gourd stuffed with coconut ,mustard and deep fried to make this standalone snack or accompaniment or starter of a Bengali main course.

  1. Teasel Gourd...2 , cut in halves
  2. Coconut paste...2 tbsp
  3. Mustard seeds paste...2 tbsp
  4. Green chili...3 , chopped
  5. All purpose flour...3 tbsp
  6. Rice flour...1 tbsp
  7. Salt ... to taste
  8. Oil ... for frying
  1. Blend coconut , mustard seeds and green chili into a fine paste and keep aside.
  2. Parboil the teasel gourd for 3 minutes or till 1/4 done.Scoop the seeds such that only the shell remains . Mix the scooped portion with blended paste.
  3. Fry the above mixture in few drops of oil for 1 minute or till just about dry.
  4. Stuff the teasel gourd with above mixture , dip in a batter of all purpose flour , rice flour , salt to taste and deep fry for 4-5 minutes or till crisp.
  5. Serve with steamed rice .
